This workshop explores the first practice of exemplary leadership: Model the Way. This principle is based on the idea that effective leaders embody the values they promote. They don’t just tell others what to do—they lead by example. This builds credibility, trust, and alignment within teams.

Key Practices

  1. Clarify Your Values
    • Leaders must first identify their core personal values.
    • Then, they should align those values with the organization’s values.
    • This helps ensure consistent decision-making, even in uncertain times.
  2. Set the Example Through Actions
    • Leaders must act in alignment with their words.
    • They should demonstrate the standards they expect from others.
    • This creates a mirror effect—teams follow what they see.

Leader Commitments

  • Authenticity: Stay true to your beliefs, even under pressure.
  • Consistency: Align decisions, words, and actions.
  • Visibility: Be present and lead by example daily.
  • Accountability: Own your mistakes and learn from them.

This workshop can also be combined with others to explore the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership. The goal of the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership is to help leaders become more effective by adopting concrete and repeatable behaviors.
